Kia ora! I’m Harriett, a director based in Auckland, NZ.
My mahi is informed by my passion for performance directing, and my desire to tell stories that centre around human connection.
I performed on the Globe Stage in London and starred in a viral webseries before realising my true calling is on the other side of the process. In 2015, I was AUT’s Television and Screen Production graduate of the year. My short films (ANNA & Lani’s Space) have been recognised and awarded internationally.
Film Construction began representing me commercially in 2017. Since then, I have directed commercials locally and internationally for brands like ABC, Honda, Visa, and Vice.
In addition to directing TVCs, I also work as a casting director, as well as stretching my creative brain across a variety of personal projects. My ongoing series, single/single, allows me to explore one-take monologues with actors I love.
I also enjoy directing theatre shows, including the recent sold out season of debut NZ play, Champions, which is now in feature development. In 2023, I took part in the prestigious DEGANZ Emerging Women Filmmakers Incubator to further advance my directing career.
My breadth of experience across the creative industries gives me a holistic understanding of storytelling, hones my instincts, and enables me to be a comprehensive and empathetic director. My passion for storytelling and my ability to bring out the best in actors makes me a sought-after director in the industry.
